The 25 solo pieces written by the renowned guitar pedagogue Dieter Kreidler are arranged progressively and their compositional technique is based on the one hand on historical templates by baroque lutenists and on the other hand on the alternating bass technique that has emerged since 1920 and is celebrated today by such popular guitarists as Andy McKee or Tommy Emmanuel.
The technique of the student is promoted and challenged by Kreidler’s compositions and the associated exercises in an attractive unpredictability, surprising jumpiness and pseudo-counterpoint – a technical challenge that is fun and can also be worked out well in class with the included duo versions.
