The Search was written for a short film produced in 1995 in Vancouver, but due to time constraints was never included in the finished film. The Search was composed as background music portraying the comic aspects of two characters’ search for employment. Scored for a clarinet choir consisting of 1 e-flat clarinet, 4 b-flat clarinets and 1 bass clarinet, this piece is easily approachable by high school players. In 1997 Dr. Robert Riesling, from the University of Western Ontario, premiered this work in London, Ontario.
