Marc Blitzstein (1905-1964) was a true American original, creating compositions that straddled musical styles between traditional classical and theatre, blending social commentary and political satire with charm, simplicity and humor. This third volume devoted to the composer’s vocal music presents over 50 songs and arias, many published for the first time. Interest in Blitzstein has been revived following the release of a new disc by Dawn Upshaw and a Hollywood film directed by Tim Robbins called The Cradle Will Rock.
