Imagine the knights arriving for the tournament to fanfares and celebrations. The Last Tournament was inspired by the composer’s admiration and interest in the life and music of the Middle Ages. It is set in three contrasting movements: “Arrival of the Knights,” “Elegy for the Fallen,” and “The Victors.”
