Reflection on the Thames

The River Thames flows through southern England and is known for its peace and natural beauty. These characteristics of the river are beautifully portrayed in this solo. Although written in C major, harmonies outside the key are used. The reflective tempo in 4/4 meter and the addition of the damper pedal help to create a dreamy and lyrical style. This piece is an excellent vehicle for teaching tone painting and careful listening.
