In 1759 Leopold Mozart compiled a notebook of exercises for his daughter Nannerl. The notebook was also used by young Wolfgang, who composed his own pieces into the empty pages. This edition contains all of Leopold’s and Wolfgang’s compositions from the collection.
“Since this is music chosen by a professional musician father for his daughter’s successful career, each piece introduces a new and different technique with no time wasted in between. In terms of difficulty, the music is consistently progressive along with key signature, from simple to advanced…The editor shows great understanding of characteristics of the period through dynamics, ornamentation and phrasings. Most of all, pieces are not too long for younger students, so they can learn and enjoy performing quickly. The catching melody could especially motivate students. Also, well-organized page and spacing between lines are another plus for students.”–American Music Teacher
