Little Sunflower

Although associated with the bebop and hard bop jazz movements, trumpeter Freddie Hubbard brought a sweet delicacy to the gem, Little Sunflower, which Bert Ligon smooths out for jazz orchestra. A perfect introduction to jazz harmony for middle school orchestras, this moderate ballad brings non-swing syncopation easily under their fingers with piano and drum set accompaniment. Included are optional written solos for all parts, as well as improv parts for first violin and cello. Laid back and cool!
