Written by the “Waltz King” Johann Strauss II (1825-1899) in 1852, Liebeslieder Waltzes (Liebeslieder Walzer) is essentially a love serenade written in 3/4 time, consisting of seven sections: an Introduction, five different Waltzes, then a Coda. Written at a time early in the composer’s career, Strauss’ works did not receive much attention when this piece was published, though that certainly did change later. The premiere took place at Vienna’s Volksgarten by the composer’s own Strausskapelle on June 18, 1852. Instrumentation: 2(2nd dPicc).2.2.2: 4.2.1.0: Timp.Perc(1): Hp: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set): CS (Pno-Cond) in set.
