Lakota Courting Song

This unique arrangement has a haunting melody in the D pentatonic scale, which is passed to all sections. The basses will briefly venture to 4th position for their statement of the tune and fingerings are clearly marked. The lyric melody is contrasted by pizzicato accompaniments, also appearing in all parts. This arrangement allows students to explore a culture not often represented in elementary string music.
