The theme “Kommet, ihr Hirten,” or “Come, All Ye Shepherds,” first presented in the style of a classical swing waltz, is followed by a tutti variation of the melody in 4/4 time, then by a tenor saxophone solo, and a return to the opening theme. The arrangement for saxophone quartet (AATBar) by Eberhard Michaely is written at a medium swing tempo.
