Heroic Elegy and Triumphal Epilogue

The manuscript score is the only extant source for this work. Heroic Elegy, written on tow gatherings of eight folios, is inscribed ‘Finished 1.40 a.m. Jan. 22, 1901’. Triumphal Epilogue, on six gatherings of varying numbers of folios, is inscribed ‘Finished Nov. 6, 1901 / Revised Aug-Sept 1902’. The two movements are bound together, although separate pagination and title pages underscore the different dates of composition.
