1906, Scott Joplin met the Creole pianist and composer Louis Chauvin. This encounter resulted in the creation of the rag tune “Heliotrope Bouquet.” The latter of the two, who could neither read nor write music, composed the first two parts, A and B. Scott Joplin assisted Chauvin with the notation and completed the joint composition by contributing the two additional parts C and D.
