This well-known carol composed by Felix Mendelssohn has been arranged for intermediate pianists by Martha Mier, one of Alfred’s most popular writers. The melody is played by the right hand while the left hand plays contrapuntal accompaniment. There are several ornamental passages of sixteenth-notes in the melody. The piece ends slowly with a fortissimo statement of the opening theme in right-hand octaves.
