Craigellachie!, a Scottish battle cry, is the name given to the spot near Eagle Pass, which cuts through Canada’s Rocky Mountains, where the last spike of the Trans-Canada railway was pounded into the earth. This piece is an attempt to express, in music, the indomitable spirit of all those thousands who struggled so hard, not to build a railway, but a nation.
