Dalarnian Melody

Gammal Fäbodpsalm Dalarna (Old Pastoral Hymn from Dalarna) is a well-known and popular melody from Sweden that evokes the northern character of many of Scandinavia’s folk tunes. Violins, violas, and cellos all share in the melody, with Violin I employing third position, but it is doubled at the octave. The solo violin line, included in the Violin I part, goes to third and fifth position, providing a good opportunity for the more advanced violinist’s development of expressive playing.
