This lighthearted solo perfectly portrays the fun of chasing fireflies on a summer evening. Eighth-note patterns represent the chase while staccato notes depict the “points of light” displayed by the fireflies. The left hand moves from bass clef to treble, crossing over the right hand to play some of the staccatos. The tonal center is on G, with changes between major, minor and mixolydian in 4/4 meter. An optional teacher accompaniment adds to the fun.
