Chanson de Matin (Morning Song), Op. 15, No. 2 was originally written for violin and piano and most likely completed no later than 1890. The work has a companion piece called Chanson de Nuit (Night Song). Edward Elgar (1857-1934) transcribed the work for orchestra in 1901, and that version was premiered at a Queen’s Hall Promenade Concert on September 14, 1901, Henry Wood conducting.
